Living Out Love

8:26 PM

“Remember as you go about your day that you may be the only Jesus some of your friends, neighbors, and family will ever see.” - Wanda E. Brunestetter

Love. I've posted on it before, we see vintage signs that say "love", read Bible verses on love, etc, etc, etc. The thing I struggle with is not just reading about love, and saying I'm going to do it, but living it out. I struggle in this sooooo much that it's not even something to joke about! It's something that is easier said then done.
I read all the time about loving others, but do we as God's kids really live out love? Do you really show love to everyone around us?

John 13:34
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

Love isn't just about saying, "I love you,", or simply saying we're going to do it, but living it out in our everyday lives. One way of showing people love is giving them our time. Not huge amounts... just simply taking a couple minutes to call a friend who needs encouragement, sending a sick friend a get-well card, helping a family member with their school work, babysitting for a family without asking for pay, thanking your Pastor for what he does. Love comes in sooo many different forms!
Love makes a difference in people's lives as well as our own- it's one of the best ways to show people Jesus! Jesus showed his love for us by dying on the cross for our sins, and loving everyone around us is living out Jesus' example.
Bonus on loving: Not only does love change the lives of those around us - it makes us more cheerful, have a better outlook on life, makes our families closer, people want to be around us...... love all in all makes everything better!

Philippians 2:3-4

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others

What is love?

♥ Love Is.... ♥

serving others

giving people our time, not just words

encouraging and not discouraging

spending time with those who need a friend

being a friend to those who don't want to be around us

being patient with those who are trying our patience

self control with those we want to (in a way), scream and pull our hair out when we're around them

Love of course can be displayed in many other ways, but I guess the point of my post is the fact that we tend to forget that we need to live out love in our life. Jesus wants us to go beyond saying we're going to follow him, and actually get off the couch and do it! Loving isn't an easy thing to do all the time, but it's waayy more rewarding in the long run!

1 Corinthians 13:13

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
