Surrender To The One Who Loved You First: A Guest Post from Kara

Sweet surrender - how beautiful it is when a soul surrenders everything to the One from whom all things come! Too often modern Christianity underemphasizes the trade-off we make when we make Jesus Christ Lord. When we make Him Lord we make us the servant. We surrender ourselves to Him. That does not mean some of ourselves but rather all of ourselves. What we have, who we are, what we expect, our dreams, our fears, everything. We should be willing to suffer and die if needed for Him because He loved us first. I know that sounds intense but honestly sometimes I have to wonder: what are we thinking? The God of all creation, the Almighty, Powerful God loves us so much that even though we are constantly sinning against Him, He died for us. Jesus Christ the Lord of Lords and King of Kings died for us! And what do we do? Pray a prayer, sing songs, go meet with other people who think He is great too. Jesus is great – us acknowledging that makes no difference. Instead let us let the Holy Spirit live in and through us. We should constantly be praying “Use me, use me Lord. Please, I beg you to use me!”. We should always strive to let His presence in us be obvious to others. He is the Lover of our Souls; He gave everything up for us – the only question is will we give everything up for Him? Prayerfully surrender your life, your possessions, you hopes, your dreams, your fears, your wants, your thoughts, everything to Him. Give back to Him what He gave to you. It’s not yours to keep. Sisters, brothers – it is soooo worth it. Christ is so much greater than we are that it’s ridiculous that we try to hold on to ourselves at all. Only by losing everything, including ourselves, can we truly gain Christ. Are you ready to fall into your Prince's waiting arms? He has rescued you, changed your rags to a pure lily-white gown, and carried you off to live with Him forever. He is more than enough. Christ and only Christ can truly fulfill you. Trust Him. He is going to be able to do so much more with you than you could ever do with yourself. If you’ll only give it all , every part of you, to Him. His love makes it worth it all!
