The Terms and Conditions of Being a Christian

8:10 AM

There is terms and conditions to pretty much everything - especially everything you join on the internet, and who has time to read those? Honestly consider it and you know most of the time we're not at all like Bilbo and willing to read the long list.Usually it's written in complicated form and would take too much time. I probably wouldn't understand a word I'm reading!
The terms and conditions to being a Christian aren't complicated however. Not in the least. It's a simple term, a simple request. It's Jesus inviting us to join Him forever. He simply says, "come".
He's not asking any of us to first clean up our mess, get our lives under control, and then come. No - He just says, "come.", and that little command takes us on a journey of a lifetime. The conditions are small - the effects big enough to last a lifetime and then some!
We get benefits like no other thing we've ever done.

We get eternal life {And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us. 1 John 2:25}

A place to call our forever home where we our loved and accepted {we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:1}

All our mistakes, all our sins wiped way and we're made new {Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17}

And our Savior Jesus already paid the price so all we would have to do is follow and then start this journey - this incredible adventure that is all our own.
We are loved by a heavenly Father who doesn't want me to have to clean up my mess - He's willing to clean it up for me. He knows I'm not perfect and He understands. He gives us a simple command, makes the adventure easy to start, but a path that will sometimes seem treacherous and hard. Being a Christian doesn't mean easy, but it means doing the seemingly impossible.
It's a lifelong commitment, a growing process. It's not like BOOM all our worries, all our fears, everything will just be gone. We'll still sin, we'll still make mistakes, and yet God doesn't let go. He continually walks with us the whole journey, and all He asks us to do is "come", to follow Him.

He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit |Titus 3:5|
