Where I Need to Change

7:20 AM

...the other big flaw that I could see is being a worrier.... But the more I thought about it, the more I could see that being the core issue and bleeding into other aspects of your life.

That's what I thought too. I just needed someone to tell me that.

Hola readers!
What you see directly above is a direct quote from one of my best friends about me. If you know me then you know I struggle with worry generally. I've written countless blog posts about it, I've read books about the subject, I've listened to songs about defeating the enemy of worry.
And yet this year of 2016 the fear has consumed me more then ever.
My little flaw has become a major problem.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

That verse hasn't been what I've clung to, and I honestly feel like a hypocrite for blogging about trusting God over these months when that's one of my major struggles. This month it's gotten worse, and I decided the moment had come to ask some good friends what they thought my major flaw was. Would they see what I saw?
When Naomi told me that she knew could see Worry in my life, I could easily look back and see him too. I've made worry my idol. He's what I lean on instead of God. He helps me make my excuses on why I can't do certain things, take certain classes. He whispers that I'm not good enough. He points out all the bad in this life. He even points out the bad in me.
Let's be honest - the King of Liars (aka the Devil) is what brings on these doubts. And I listen to him.
I've decided to take some big steps this fall and winter. Remember when I said I'm going to use this season as a time to get close to God?
Taking a few counseling classes will be part of that.
Editing my book and not worrying about what could go wrong will be part of that.
I can't worry. I can't use that as my crutch. I can't make up a dozen excuses every time I feel God calling me.
So now I have to ask you-what is some major flaw in your life you need to change? Don't feel obligated to answer here on the blog. Ask yourself, and DO ask some besties you trust-ones that long to see you grow closer to your Savior.
It's extremely humbling to ask those around you the flaws they see. It's not easy. But the moment, the growing experience, is worth it.

    1. Hola sweet Emily!
It is definitely a blessing to be able to ask friends how we need to change and then work on it. I often times tend to overlook my own flaws and be judgmental of everyone else, and this was a perfect thing to exercise.
      Blessings,
      Kara
