Tag - I'm It! {A Bookish tag}

8:53 AM

Kara at Flowers of Quiet Happiness tagged anyone who'd love to do this, and if it's about books then I'm all in.
So today, we just have a fun little tag without too much thinking involved.

RULES:
You must be honest
You must answer all the questions
You must tag at least 4 people

1. Which Book Has Been On Your Shelf The Longest? Charlotte's Web is probably the oldest -  and it looks it. I got it from a summer reading program at my library when I was about eight and enjoyed it so much that the pages are worn and falling out.

2. What is your current read, your last read, and the book you'll read next? My current read is If I'm Found from Terri Blackstock (soo excited to begin!!!), my last read was Crossed from Ally Condie and my next read will be...probably one of the Sherlock Holmes stories since I'm currently waiting for books to come in the mail that I picked out form the programs I'm part of.

3. What book did everyone like but you hated? Hunger Games. Hands down that is one book that I maybe didn't hate-hate per say but I definitely didn't see the whole point to the big fandom following.

A rare look at my bookshelf

4. What book do you keep telling yourself you'll read but you probably won't? Well I keep wanting to read Four from Veroncia Roth but I wasn't a fan of her books after Divergent so I keep saying, "I'll read it" and then I change my mind. But the other book I want to read is Nicholas Nickleby from Charles Dickens. Grant it, I got it for Christmas and it is on my to-read list and I plan on it, but that monster is thick and I don't know if I'll be able to finish it.

5. What books are you saving for retirement? Haha, ummm....every single one of my books? I have a lot of books I want to read and even more I want to reread. I'll probably still be pulling Jane Eyre off the shelf when I'm old and gray because it's a classic I don't want to ever get tired of, and I'm constantly rereading bits and pieces.

6. Last page: Read it first or wait until the end? WHO READS IT FIRST? I refuse to spoil a perfectly good ending by reading it first. I just hate spoilers. When Sherlock season 4 came out I refused to go on Pinterest simply so I wouldn't see spoilers from fellow fans and I took great pains to avoid any other social media site that might give something away, so with books I'm even more determined.

7. Acknowledgments: waste of paper and ink, or interesting aside? As a writer and hopefully a one day published author, the thought of this little page is something I can't wait for. It's thanking people for helping you, it's final, it's saying goodbye to this book and onto the next. Plus as a book nerd, I always love going to the last page (or first - whichever it's on) and reading it. This is actually the first thing I read in any book because I love catching a glimpse into the author's life!

8. Which book character would you switch places with? OH MY...let's see. Jane Eyre perhaps because I've always loved Mr. Rochester in the end and I really relate to Jane on certain levels. But then her story is so sad....I really would love to be Eowyn though from the LOTR series because, she got to help in the defeat the darkness and she's just amazing - both book and movie wise.

9. Do you have a book that reminds of you something specific in your life? (Place, time person) Well first off The Christy Miller series reminds me of being eleven years old and just a struggling Christian. Reading the series helped change my life and see God's love for me. I remember reading them outside by the swing set under the hot summer sun and after completing one of the books, running inside to my mom and telling her about the amazing characters and how they should do such-and-such. I still read them now and they always have that nostalgic feel when I pick them up.

10. Name an interesting book that you acquired in an interesting way. I really don't have any books that come from terribly interesting places though my family does have an old copy of Wuthering Heights my grandfather read in High School and could have cared less if it was thrown in the trash (Wuthering Heights isn't exactly his kind of read) so we snatched it up before it met its fate.

11. Have you ever given a book away for a special reason to a special person? Uhhh does holidays and birthdays count?

12. Which book has been with you most places? I don't know - my Sherlock Holmes collection maybe since you can't read that all the way through easily and I pick it up at random moments and read one or two of the stories.

13. Any required reading in High School that wasn't so bad two years later? A Tale of Two Cities I don't remember enjoying so well in 10th grade but now it's my favorite book and I love it so much.

14. Used or brand new? Nothing beats brand new but I love antique books or used in general because it usually means I got them really cheap (used) or just beautiful with so much history (antique).

15. Have you ever read a Dan Brown book? Nope

16. Have you ever seen a movie you liked more then the book? Hunger Games since I enjoyed the characters more in the movie and LOTR as well. I watched the movies first and so it kinda made me a movie fan first a book fan second, even though I usually prefer reading them first. Grant it, I loved reading about Faramir and Eowyn more in the book as well as a bunch of things not put in the films.

17. Have you ever read a book that made you hungry (cook books included)? YES! Usually it's not the cook books but more the high energy ones where I want to snack on something to calm my nerves.

18. Who is the person whose book advice you'll always take? Well, let's see...I don't have too many people where I'll actually take their advice. I'm really my own person when it comes to reading and I can't find anyone that I "can trust" concerning if I'll like it or not haha.

19. Is there a book out of your comfort zone (e.g outside your usual reading genre) that you ended up loving? YES! Divergent because though I love Dystopian now, I was only a fan of The Giver at the time, so Divegent was a big step up for me.
Also, I normally don't read period drama type books, so reading North and South after seeing Richard Armitage play in the amazing miniseries, I just fell in love with it. I loved it more then I thought and way more then any of Jane Austin's works which surprised me since I wasn't a huge fan of her works and thought North and South would be similar.
