The Broken Prince Aesthetics + Story Snippets

7:41 AM

Hola readers!
You asked for it and I'm terrible at it...introducing The Broken Prince aesthetics + story snippets.
I am awful at digging up good quotes and finding eye candy photos but I love sharing more of my book with you so I will give this a shot.
I'm planning a cover reveal soon (*inset internal screaming*) and I cannot wait to share even more in the next few weeks!!!
I have been crazy busy the last while trying to write, prepare to publish and work 30 hours a week. My brain is going a little insane but I'm just feeling really excited about what is to come!

Darkness. All around him he saw darkness. Outside, inside.
He wanted...he wanted...he did not even know what he wanted. He leaned against the stone wall, breathing. In. Out.
A weight crushed his shoulders, wrapped around his insides. Alone. All alone. He could never get through a day where he did not see the darkness. It was there, strangling him, turning him into what he never wanted to be.
He turned to the wall. A stone wall. A stone wall that may as well have been his life, holding him inside.
His hands closed into fists, the cold stone piercing him as he swung back.

“I’m not a monster, Serena.” He said the words carefully, as if he himself was trying to convince himself more than her.
Serena bit her lip. “I know.” And she did, really.

Then the man’s eyes turned back in her direction, looking her up and down as if she sat on display.
Recognition dawned. “Ah, the lass from the village.”
“Aye, and ye should be ashamed. Ye have taken good lads away from many needy families.”
“I’m a soldier, and soldiers have to take orders.”
“Young lads are not soldiers, sir.”
Her fellow prisoner raised his eyebrows. “Ah, but you know nothing of who I am or anything of battle tactics or soldiers.”

Serena watched the bread bake over the fire, out of habit allowing little bits of fire to spark from her fingertips, playfully shooting them towards the ground. Warm energy encircled her as she concentrated on the Gift, on the moment.
And this time, instead of simply flames, little animals made of tongues of fire danced in the air, hovering above her hand. A little puppy chased his tail, a wolf howled at the moon, and a fish leapt out of a stream before the three disappeared into the fire below, mixing with the other orange flames.

Have a lovely week readers!
